Ellis' book about his trek, WALKING THE TRAIL, ONE MAN'S JOURNEY ALONG THE CHEROKEE TRAIL OF TEARS, was published by Delacorte Press and nominated by the publisher for a Pulitzer Prize and a National Book Award.
